After a long career at Bank of America and Microsoft, Chef John pursued his passion for the culinary arts. Upon graduating from Johnson and Wales University, he opened The CoffeeTable Cafe and coffee bar in Union County, NC. He also served as Vice President of Jillisar Inc., the parent company of the Table.
From 2015 to 2020, Chef John LaTour served as a Program Manager and Chef Instructor for the Healthy Futures Starting in the Kitchen program at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) in Charlotte, NC, funded by Smart Start of Mecklenburg County. He also taught various culinary classes through the "Charlotte Cooks" continuing education program.
When the Healthy Futures Starting in the Kitchen program ended in 2020, Chef John relocated to Brunswick County. He founded Healthy Families - Healthy Futures Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to educating families and individuals across North Carolina on healthy eating, cooking, and shopping.

Chef John is an alumnus of both CPCC and Johnson and Wales University. In 2023, he became a Certified Nutrition Educator through the continuing education program at Utah State University.
Healthy Families - Healthy Futures is a registered non profit in the state of North Carolina. The program is a 501(c)3 non-profit recognized by the IRS.
